Last Week of School! Wow! We finally made it to the last week in 5th class. It only seems like yesterday since we’ve all been in school together, but over 3 months have passed since we’ve seen each other. You’ve all done so well, managing to keep up with your learning, and I would like to thank your busy parents for giving you the support you needed, and keeping me in the loop by sending me emails. I don’t think you’ll ever forget the end of 5th class! I’m sorry I can’t say farewell to you in person, so I’ve added some ‘Wishes’ for you down below in the form of a picture book youtube video. I hope you like it! The choice board we put up on the blog last week was for 2 weeks, but I’ll add in the pdf again just in case you need it. I’ll pop up the maths revision sheet answers at the end of the week. I’ve also added a fun suggestion for each day this week, which I think you’ll enjoy. Make sure to greet me in the corridors when you’re the ‘big’ girls in 6th class come the end of September. Have a lovely summer, Ms Mc Manus. PS. Please let me know via email how many Sports Day activities you completed. Thanks to those who have already done so...a certificate is on its way to you! Check out some great Sports Day photos on the School News section of the website, kindly updated by Ms Colgan. I've also added our class's photos from this week to the blog gallery. MondayPick one of the following writing activities to complete. Remember, always write the date and heading, and check for spelling and punctuation errors! TuesdayPick one of the following art activities to help you remember your year in 5th Class! There's a PDF version as well if you'd like to download and print them off.
WednesdayVirtual School Tour to Ellis Island, New York Harbour! I bet when you were in school a few months ago you never would have guessed you would be going on your school tour to America! You’ll know from your lessons on The Irish Famine, that many people emigrated to America. Their first stop off those ships was at Ellis Island. It was here that their fate was decided, would they be allowed to stay or have to return home? Take a guided tour of Ellis Island and/or Download the pdf and answer the questions as you go on a virtual tour of Ellis Island.

Homework 15th-26th JuneHello Girls! This is the second last week of school. Can you believe it? Well done to all the girls who sent in 2 pictures, one from the top row and one from the bottom row of the choice board. I sent a homework pass to your parent's email. Together you can decide which day you would like to use it. If you forgot to send them in, you can still do so, and then I can send you on your homework pass! I've uploaded some of the pictures you sent me to the gallery. You girls certainly have been busy! Remember, I can't upload a photo if you are the only person in it. The strawberries we planted way back in March bore fruit...do you remember that far back?! I brought them home with me to Cavan and looked after them carefully. I picked the first of the strawberries last week. They were delicious in my porridge. It's a pity you won't get to taste them, but I've added lots of photos to the gallery so you can see how big the plants have grown. I know some of you girls decided you'd plant some strawberries at home, and it sounds like you have green fingers...well done girls! I love getting your emails telling me all about how you're getting on at home. Lots of you were asking me how I was spending my time, so I added a few photos of the things I've been enjoying while staying at home. This week the choice board is for the next 2 weeks. That means you can spread out the activities over 2 weeks instead of one. As before, we'd like you to try and do one activity from each horizontal row. The choice is yours! Both myself and Ms Kirwan have had so much fun creating a Sports Day/Week that you can complete at home! Below you’ll see a choice board of 15 Sports activities. You need to download the PDF so that you can access the links on each section. From there, you’ll see ideas and videos that will help you set up a Sports Day/Week in your home! You might like to do one activity each day, spread it out over a week, or do all activities in one day. Everyone who takes part will receive an electronic certificate via email.
How to earn your certificate:
PS. Why not organise something nice to eat for the finale. An ice-lolly, some juice or maybe a bag of popcorn would go down a treat! Weaving WellbeingSTEMHomework Corrections 12th JuneHello Girls,
I've uploaded the answers to all of the work from this week. Please use the pictures to check off your answers, and maybe have a go at some of the sums again if you didn't get it right first time around! I'm so impressed with all the work you sent me this week. Lots of you sent me your Covid 19 stories and I've added them to a folder to give to Mrs Mc Cloughan. I'll send a homework pass Monday to those of you who sent me two pictures; one from the top and one from the bottom row of the choiceboard. Have a lovely weekend, Ms Mc Manus. Homework 8th-12th JuneHello Girls, We hope you had a lovely weekend and are ready for the week ahead. We know how hard it is to keep doing your schoolwork in June, but the end is in sight! Next week we hope to have lots of sports ideas here so you can create a Sports Day in your home. Thanks to all of you who sent us positive messages about the choice board. We’re delighted you’re enjoying it! There are a few girls I have not heard from in a while. Please email me this week as I’d love to hear what you’re up to and how you’ve been spending your time. We are using the same format as last week for homework. We suggest that you do some Maths each day. It’s revision and will jog your memories. The Irish can be completed in one sitting, or you might like to spread it out over a couple of days. I hope you’re all still doing some reading. You have a choice of reading each day and completing a record of it, or doing the story on Dragons in the comprehension booklet. Remember that you need to download the PDF file to access the links on the choice board. As before, you may choose to do all the activities or pick two or three that appeal to you.It would be a good idea to pick one activity from each horizontal row. This week I’d like you to send me;
Everyone who sends me 2 pictures will get one free-day from homework next week. Remember to correct your work from last week. The pictures are down below. Have a lovely week, Ms Mc Manus. P.S. Thanks to those who sent me their Covid 19 stories this week. They are fantastic to read. I'm compiling them into a folder to give to Mrs Mc Cloughan. Imagine coming back to the school when you're older and reading the story you wrote as a young girl during a world pandemic! If you didn't get a chance to write yours yet, try to send it to me over the next week or so. Well done to Leah who came 5th in the first ever World Lyrical Dance Federation online Championships. What an achievement! We are very proud Leah of you Leah. I know how much practice you do. The hard work is paying off. It's lovely to hear what you're up to when schools are closed. Two girls in the class emailed me to say they've started playing the ukulele. You never know, we might have a ukulele club by the time we get back to school! Ava B, Katie and Lilah enjoyed the art activities this week. Lilah also had lots of fun with the frozen science task. All photos are in the gallery. So make sure to send me some photos this week, and I'll add yours to the gallery too.

Hi Girls! Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend and feel well rested after enjoying the sun. Well done for all of your hard work over the last few months. Now that we are in June, we will be changing the work format slightly. Your homework this week consists of English, Gaeilge and Maths. The table below outlines what activities to do. We have also included a ‘choice board’ which you can see below. How to use the choice board: Think of this as a ‘menu’ that you can choose from. It consists of fun activities for you to complete. You can do all of the activities if you like, or you may pick one activity to do each day that appeals to you. By the end of the week, it would be fantastic if you had completed one activity from each horizontal row (e.g. you might decide to do History, SPHE and Art, or maybe you’d prefer to do Science, P.E. and music.) The choice is yours! We hope you find this fun. How to access the choice board: The choice board is downloadable as a pdf file, which will open links that may help you complete the work. The file is found above the picture, and says 'download file'. Alternatively, I have uploaded a picture of the choice board, but you will not be able to click the links unless you download the file. Please note, I have included the links and photos you need to all activities below, as normal. This week, we would like you to send us:
